Free Workshop

On Sunday, September 30, at 2 p.m. Ames Town & Gown and the Ames Public Library are partnering to present The Rose Ensemble in an informal workshop in the Farwell T. Brown Auditorium, an APL Unplugged event. This event is free and open to the public.

Blending music of the Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque eras with captivating narrative, The Rose Ensemble has received critical acclaim for both the preservation of this ancient music and its dynamic programming for today’s audiences. Their program Cantigas from the Land of Three Faiths – A Celebration of Ancient Mediterranean Vocal Music evokes the amazing cultural diversity that thrived in early Spain, Portugal, and Italy, reminding us of the timeless human spirit that resonates across centuries and cultural borders. The Cleveland Plain Dealer has compared the Rose Ensemble to the “best-known world-class early music ensembles, “ noting their “beautiful balance and blend . . . flawless intonation.”

The events by the Rose Ensemble are supported in part by the Iowa Arts Council (a division of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs) and by the National Endowment for the Arts.
