Currently on the piano faculty at Indiana University, Edmund Battersby made his concert debuts in Wigmore Hall in London and in Alice Tully Hall in New York. He has performed at music festivals in Santa Fe, at the Library of Congress, at Mostly Mozart, and with Great Performers at Lincoln Center. Chamber music collaborations have included work with the Tokyo Quartet, the Orion Quartet, violinist Elmar Oliveira, and cellists Carter Brey and Colin Carr.
The New York Times described Edmund Battersby as "a pianist of uncommon refinement."
An active recitalist, he made his London recital debut at Wigmore Hall and his New York recital debut at Alice Tully Hall. Battersby is also a versatile chamber musician who has collaborated with such noted instrumentalists as violinist Elmar Oliveira, cellist Carter Brey, the Tokyo String Quartet, the Manhattan Quartet and the American Chamber Players. In this genre he has performed the standard ensemble repertoire and premiered and performed many challenging new works by composers including Bowdoin's Robert K. Beckwith Professor of Music Emeritus Elliott Schwartz, George Crumb, George Rochberg, Olivier Messiaen, and William Bolcom.
