FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 2006 ~ 7:30 PM
MARTHA-ELLEN TYE RECITAL HALL, ISU
Residency shared by Ames Town & Gown, the ISU Music Department, and the Central Iowa Symphony.
Ralph Votapek joined the pantheon of great American pianists upon winning both the Gold Medal in the first Van Cliburn International Competition and First Prize in the Naumburg Competition. Since that time, he has performed in the world’s greatest concert halls, with the most distinguished symphony orchestras, conductors and chamber musicians. He met his wife, Albertine, when both studied with the legendary Rosina Lhevinne at the Juilliard School. In the words of The Chicago Tribune, "Pianist Votapek dares to be different, reaches the sublime . . . "
