Every year, a favorite evening for area music lovers is Ames Town & Gown’s Musicale. For the past twenty years at this fundraising event, talented local musicians have donated their time to create a marvelous musical collage followed by a now-famous reception of champagne, desserts, and savories. We invite you to come in from the winter’s frigid air and experience the way music can refresh the soul and give respite from a hectic, impersonal world.
The 22nd Musicale will take place at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ames, beginning at 7:30 p.m. with the concert portion in the beautiful and resonant sanctuary. The performances differ from more traditional chamber music programming by including lighter fare, excerpts from larger works, or unusual musical groupings. Artistic Director Paula Forrest’s concept of the evening is a potpourri of music and camaraderie.
Following the concert, performers and guests will partake in a glorious selection of desserts and savories in the Parish Hall of St. John’s. Come in from the cold and enjoy the fun of meeting some of your favorite musicians in a festive, good-humored atmosphere knowing all proceeds will go toward programming of the 2011-2012 Town & Gown concert season!
